Scarlet Fantastic
are former Swans Way (Soul Train reached no. 20 in 1984) singer Maggie De Monde (lovelady) and Rick P. Jones (captain pleasure). They finally made the top 40 with their debut single No Memory, in the summer of 1987, the record gradually climbed to no. 24 and Scarlet Fantastic were born. The 2nd single, the raunchy and sexy Plug Me In (to the central love line) despite being highly plugged and remixed to extreme, failed to emulate their previous success and only reached no. 67.

With their garish videos and clothes, their promotion of Love & Anarchy and their own corporate identity, they were never to grace the top 75 again. Their next single Film Star Kiss featured a great poster sleeve for this vibrant and positive song. The last single Stay is a great ballad, both should've been hits and the album 24 Hours was deemed a flop. After this Maggie and Rick disbanded Scarlet Fantastic after one last chance - a re-issue of No Memory got nowhere.

Maggie got married shortly after to Leif Kahal (of Albatros fame). During the 90's Maggie & Leif recorded as "Kahal & Kahal" there first collaboration "Pilots of the Impossible" Recorded in Birmingham with Bob Lamb of UB40. Between 91 - 96 they were signed to PWL Records and recorded lots of material including "Show Me No Mercy" though none of it was actually released. After this they set up their own recording studio writing songs for themselves and other performers. Maggie hosted and performed at her own "Maggie's Music Nights" in Notting Hill, London, promoting new talent. In April 2000 they bought a small London club "EL DORADO" an underground music club and continued this theme. Maggie has appeared in the Hugh Grant movie "about a boy" and more recently in an episode of Ricky Gervais's "Extras" series with Sir Ian McKellan

The Noughties

2004 "Show Me No Mercy"finally made it's way to the light, Maggie made available to this website only an 11 track album plus 4 remixes of"Show Me No Mercy" complete with specially written liner notes.

2006 saw the release of a new album with ex-Pop Will Eat Itself guitarist Graham Crabb as "Mighty K feat. Crabbi " the Album "Club Silencio" is available to buy or download from iTunes, and well worth a turn. Also look out for Yee-Ha remix of the track "Remember My Name" remixed by Dave Ball of Soft Cell. Maggie also appeared in the line up on the BBC2 Pop quiz show 'never mind the Buzzcocks'' at promoted the album there.

2007 and 'No Memory' burst back on to the club charts, with a whole set of new remixes by Dennis Christopher and Raul Rincon. Scarlet Fantastic played a live set at the Masque Club in Liverpool to a rapturous reception. For more info click here.
